How to Clean & Reuse Press-Ons: Clean-Up + Storage Tips
Share
So you’ve removed your press-ons with care (hopefully using our Nail Release Elixir 😉)—now what? Good news: you don’t have to toss them out! With the right clean-up and a little prep, you can absolutely reuse our press-ons and keep them looking flawless. Here’s how to do it step-by-step.
Step 1: Wash Off Any Residue
After removal, your press-ons will likely be a little slick from oils or remover. Gently wash them with soap and warm water to remove any residue.
Step 2: Let Them Dry Completely
This is key! Make sure your press-ons are 100% dry before you file or store them—any leftover moisture can cause mold or glue issues later on.
Step 3: File the Underside + Edges
Using a fine-grit nail file or buffer, gently file off any glue stuck to the underside of the press-on. You can also smooth out the edges if needed. You don’t need to remove every speck of glue—just enough to create an even surface for next time.
Step 4: Buff Lightly
If the bottom of your nails have a slight shine or glue residue, lightly file or buff. This helps glue adhere better on the next wear.
Step 5: Store Them Properly
Keep your press-ons in a clean and dry container. You can use small organizer boxes, bead storage, or repurpose any cute packaging you have on hand.
Bonus Tip:
If you used our Nail Release Elixir, your press-ons should be in great shape—free of acetone damage and ready for their next use. Need a fresh batch or want to make your own? Here’s the 60ml recipe.
